Natalie's Death

The only person aside from my mother left of my family. My new family. Of course no one notified me. No one invited me to the service. They don't know about me. I read her obituary. She was a good woman. They murdered my brother was murdered, and they murdered her too. Legally, though no one knows it, I am entitled to the estate, everything. I don't think the barristers know either. They just know they were subsidizing my income for whatever reason Natalie gave them. I'm not after money, but I don't want to see it drop into the wrong hands. I don't know what I should do. Natalie was always kind to me. She was the one who found me, a child lost for so many years. Now all that new family is gone. I think I'll make a small inquiry to see if there is any extended family around. He changed his name to Nosfertum. I've seen the name. In the papers.

I visited Mum on Friday. She misses me. I told her she needs to do things, get out, maybe date some. I think the comment was in vain. I will see her next week and the week after.

I thought I would miss Caroline, but I do not. I think it was just a crush or something else. She's a sweet girl, but I don't like my head taken over by anything but me. I don't really want a relationship right now and that's exactly what she wanted. Who knows what sort of wild fantasies she had cooked up.

Firecrabs!

My training is going very slow, but in the meantime, I'm getting to do some beasts division work. I like the field work. It gets me out and about. The other day I went out to recover a boatload of fire crabs. I didn't find nearly enough of them. It's like they just weren't there. It's...embarrassing. I'll have to go back out with some beast agents, see if there were some kind of strange traces of firecrab I was missing.

Anthony

My Brother Dead

A brother I never really knew. I found out through the Prophet no less. I should go to her. I'm sure she has friends but she's the one who saw me. She's the one who unlocked that part of my life. She feels like family and I know she must be hurting. I will send her an owl.

Woo!

I'm a right git. I keep leaving my mail out on the coffeetable and the puffskein keeps eating it. I found one thrown up on the floor, an old one. I don't know how long it takes for one of those to digest a full letter, envelope and all. It was disgusting, but it had good news! Caroline's got another internship in my department, but I bet she'll be working with beasts again.

Man how the days blur into each other. I'm going to pick her up at the station. I've got some flowers blooming right now, so I'll give her those.

Ant

Sunday, 1 September 1979.

Caroline likes me, but now she's gone. Why do I have to like someone younger than me like that? I'm graduated. I'm supposed to be over Hogsmeade Weekends, but I can't wait till the first one.

Natalie Nosfertum asked me to lunch. What do you say to that? I couldn't say no, though she's married. It was a little awkward already like that, but it only got worse after I got there. They live in a bloody palace. She then proceeded to tell me that Jabari's father is my own. After all this time, and he's dead. He died right under my nose and I hardly knew him. I asked if he was a good man and she didn't really answer, which means he was a bastard. It must have been how he got his money or something.

I just left. I didn't like his eyes boring down into my back, the damned painting of him right behind me. She said that she knows he didn't know about me but that he took provisions for bastards. She put it more nicely than that, but that was more or less what she was saying. Doesn't that just make him a great man. I'm not going to ask mum. I figure she was probably spurned and now I know who he is I don't really need to know.

I got back home and found a school owl. Caroline sent me a letter. Gods I miss her already. I wish we could talk, like really talk.

I really just wanted to live my life. I think I'll go on doing that.

Ant

Finally I can tell those girls to bugger off. I asked Caroline to the dance. At the rate I was getting harassed by those girls all the extra time I was going to have by not going was rapidly disappearing. Plus it was just annoying and ten times the amount of stupid.

I'm glad I asked her. We're going to hang out instead of actually go. Raid the kitchens, play music, and relax. It should be fun. I'm not sure what it means, but I don't think it matters all too much. I'm not going to think about it.

Anthony

Tiptoeing

Been bumping into Caroline more and more often, even outside of barn visits. She really likes horses a lot. Another thing to note is that some Gryffindor boy named Patrick is Alis' uncle somehow. Who knows how that happened. I'm not of the mind to even ask. I get the sense that Patrick in general is a sore subject.

Also, I should probably write this down so I don't forget, but Alis' dad works in the RCMC department at the Ministry. She's not on good terms with her parents for whatever reason. I didn't ask because she obviously didn't want to talk about it.

The other day I kind of found myself doing something rash. I told Caroline it'd be alright that she could stay with me over the summer if she got the internship and couldn't find a place. It was stupid. Right after it came out I knew. We haven't said anything of it since and she didn't mention it to Alis. Do I have to thank Godric for that one? I don't regret offering, I just wish I had been more tactful, maybe hadn't offered at that time. She seems like a sweet girl and if she's in a bind I'll help her out. It just got extremely awkward.

Did I mention she's got a great voice?

Anthony

Met a girl...

I met a girl named Caroline. She's a Gryffindor and 2 years younger than me. I think she's the one who I've been avoiding all these years. Giving her space with the barn animals and waiting my turn. Well surprisingly she has a nice voice, she plays the guitar, and she has something between her ears so when she laughs (and she laughs, she doesn't giggle which is a plus) there isn't some ringing sound. Obviously she likes creatures, and she seems to be that stallion's lass that I've been wondering about. We talked until curfew and then walked back up to the castle with each other. It's nice meeting someone who isn't brain dead, to the death about House competitions, and is interested in the same things.

Anthony

P.S. Also met a little dancer on two occasions. Her name is Alis McElroy, another Gryffindor who taps and dances ballet.
